An exhilarating and beautiful Spring day was spent in Keswick among gardeners and an enthusiastic bunch of folk that made us feel welcome. There were 12 attendees from our Society. The morning Speaker : Daniele Zanotti, CEO of United Way York Region kept us entertained with his down-to-earth anecdotes of how to increase membership and attract the younger generation. Perseverance & Persistence seem to be the key. The afternoon speaker : Paul Knowles, author and publisher of 13 garden books, kept us amused and awake with his encounters with the numerous and varied gardeners that touched his life enough to write about them (remember the 3 T's) and it was nature that invariably kept him grounded. Besides his collage of light hearted-garden stories that tie in with lessons from nature, his articles can be seen in Canadian Gardening, The Reader's Digest, Maclean's as well as CBC Radio programs.

A considerable amount of time, commitment and volunteer hours go into making the District Meeting a success. It was well organized, good food, ample parking. Hats off to Nicola Warnock and her team and special thanks to the host society - South Simcoe Lake Shore & Horticultural Society who did a tremendous job all round.
